My Top 3 Professional Skills
While my talents that I’ve showcased on this website show that I’m skilled in the arts of music, there are more skills I believe I possess which can be useful in a professional setting. Today I have been challenged to write about my top three. So without further adieu, here are my top 3 professional skills.
#1: Guest relations / customer service.
One of my best skills is guest relations. Over the last year and a half I have held a job as a guest services expert with SmashBurger, in which I deal with hundreds of customers on a daily basis. I have found myself to have a great effect on people's moods and attitudes. I’ve always been a very outgoing person. Throughout my lifetime I’ve learned how to make great first impressions, and immediately improve someone’s experience. I’m always very focused on looking out for other people's needs, and I have a very friendly demeanor. Overall I’ve found myself to be a people’s person. I truly enjoy engaging with customers and helping them with whatever they need. Since my hiring, our customer approval rating has gone up from 80% to 91%. I also have over 200 positive customer surveys mentioning me by name. These reasons are why I definitely consider myself to be an excellent customer service representative and brand ambassador.
#2: Fast learner.
Another skill I believe I possess is the ability to quickly learn new things. My entire life I’ve always found myself wanting to learn new skills or take on new hobbies. I honestly believe that learning is a skill of its own. Once you get good at learning in general, it becomes easy to find a new skill and get very good at it very quickly. I remember the first day of my current job, I was supposed to be trained by someone who woke up very sick and called out for the day. Regardless of that, the job still needed to be done. I was thrown in head first with no training, I obviously had no clue what I was doing. However, by the end of my shift that day, I had figured out how to do my job effectively. By the end of my first week, you’d think I had been there for months. This example is one of the reasons I was promoted to be our new trainer after only a few months.
#3: Creative thinking.
The third and final skill I’d like to showcase in this post is a creative mindset. Since I was a little kid I found myself always looking for creative solutions to problems that plagued me. I’ve found time and time again that if you look for a more creative way to solve issues or accomplish something, you will produce better results. As someone who enjoys making music, drawing, and painting. I would definitely consider myself to be a creative person in general. I like to think outside the box, and I put a lot of effort into finding fast and effective ways to sort through issues. Although I have the least to say about this skill. I believe its been the most useful aspect of my personality both to me, and my employers throughout my lifetime.
I believe that these skills can be combined properly to create an efficient and helpful asset to any team. While some came naturally, and others took years to acquire. I am proud of each one of them, and look forward to putting them to use in the business arena.
