The Meaning Of Determination

Life comes with challenges in all shapes and sizes. How we choose to deal with those challenges is what creates our work ethic and our character. Currently in my life, I have taken on a challenge from Praxis to improve my writing skills. This challenge involves writing a post just like this one every single day for the month of November. This challenge has been enjoyable for the most part, however, there have been a few stressful days so far. Today is no doubt one of those days.

I am currently writing this post on my phone. A phone that’s screen is cracked beyond belief and had terrible data service. Not only am I writing it on my phone, but in the back at work while taking my 30 minute break for the evening. I am determined to complete this challenge and do a good job along the way. Although some of my posts are shorter and more concise (like this one inevitably will be) and some are long and full of information. My goal has been to put effort into every one of them no matter what the circumstances, and so far I feel like I’ve done a good job with that. It’s teaching me a lesson on determination that I’m finding to be very valuable to my life.

Merrimack Webster dictionary defines determination as “the act of coming to a decision or of fixing or settling a purpose.” This means that once you’re truly determined to do  something, you give it your best effort and you don’t give up. Determination means completing your goal no matter what gets in your way. Although I had complications today that have made it difficult to get this written, I am determined to get it done.

As my break comes to an end, and I know this isn’t the most impressive article in the world. I am still proud to be able to say that I didn’t let life get in the way of my goals. I am determined to beat this challenge and I will do so no matter what roadblocks get in my way.
